Stephanie and I met in 1999 at the Freestyle World Championships in Switzerland; she was attending as the acting mayor of Whistler and me in my capacity as an executive director of the Blackcomb World Cup freestyle society. We soon found we shared a love for many things skiing, biking, swimming, the great outdoors, Whistler and of course Julia she was 9 years old at the time. Julia Murray is the Daughter of former Olympian and Crazy Canuck Dave Murray (who unfortunately passed away when Julia was only 22 months old) and former three time World Champion Freestyle skier Stephanie Sloan. Julia has recently been named to the Canadian Olympic Ski-cross team and will compete to bring home the gold on Cypress Mountain.
Julia's Bio:
I was born and raised in Whistler, BC. Living in Whistler opened my eyes to the great outdoors and encouraged me to live an active, healthy lifestyle. I was put on skis at 2 years old and have kept at it until this day. I went through the Whistler race program all through high school and the year after. I then carried my racing experiences on to the sport of Ski Cross. In December, 2007 after 3 selection camps, I was named to the Canadian National Ski Cross team along with 3 other women and 6 men. That is where it all started.
